Tyla Locke

As an Associate at IKD Tyla has a genuine passion for helping people improve their business outcomes and build stronger working relationships. Before making the move into the area of professional learning and development, Tyla gained a broad range of practical legal and commercial experience.

Tyla began her career as a lawyer at Mallesons Stephen Jaques specialising in Competition/Technology matters. She was later seconded to Telstra’s in-house legal team where she was closely involved in the company’s transformation project. During her years at Telstra, Tyla deepened her business experience by moving from a legal advisory role into a commercial role within Telstra’s Product Management team.

In 2008, Tyla decided to pursue her passion for the ‘people-side’ of business and transitioned into the learning and development field. Since moving into this area, Tyla has facilitated Equal Opportunity training sessions with BHP Billiton’s miners and is currently a Senior Consultant at CMA Learning Group, where she designs and facilitates development programs in the areas of negotiation, mediation and influential communication for a range of commercial, government and not-for-profit organisations. Part of her role at CMA includes co-facilitating a negotiation and mediation subject at Monash University Law School, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is also a regular speaker at business and industry forums on the topics of negotiation and influential communication.

Tyla’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from The University of Melbourne and completion of the LEADR mediation course. She is admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.
